Before you can add a graphic to the message board, the graphic must have it's own url (address) on the internet. You will not be able to link a graphic from your hard drive. You may be wondering how to do this. Well, there are a couple of ways, actually. If the image is already on the internet somewhere, you can find the address by doing a right click on the image, and choosing properties. You will find the address for the image there. However, most web site owners don't want you to link directly to images on their pages. By doing this, you're using their bandwidth which in most cases costs them money. Be sure you get permission to do so before linking to someone else's images. If you don't, this is considered "bandwidth stealing" and is not a nice thing to do. Also, some web sites block linking and the image would show up as broken if you tried to link to it. You can also look for some web space of your own. There are some free web space servers out there, but it's getting harder and harder to find some that will allow remote linking. (Remote linking is allowing something to show up on a web page other than the one at the actual web site where the image is located.) You'll just have to search around to see if you can find some free space out there somewhere. Be sure to read their terms of use before signing up for the space to make sure they allow remote linking. There are also some fairly cheap space you can pay for that will allow you to remote link. You might also check to see if your internet provider provides web space. My account at swbell allows three megs, which would be plenty. Once you find your web space, you need to upload your images into your space (most places have an easy upload program right at the site). Once it's uploaded, it then has it's own url (address). You can then use that address to add your graphic to the message board. |
